DUNK!FESTIVAL 2017

Affiche Dunk!Festival 2017

« This is a highlight of the festival that was given to see on the Stargazer stage in the late afternoon with The Chapel of Exquises Ardent Pears, collaboration between the French band Anathème and the British band Stems.
The collective brought the shining proof that French and British people are able to work together, after a high-flight stage performance, for an instrumental post-rock enriched with classical elements.
Those who get caught up by the golden surges of the Canadian gods of Silver Mt. Zion and Godspeed You!Black Emperor will surely crush some tears of happiness under the tides of The Chapel of Exquises Ardents Pears, amid neoclassical drones for strings ofgreat subtlety and explosions of guitars leading straight to ecstasy. »

« It was time for one of the highlights of the day.
The Chapel of Exquises Ardents Pears is a collaboration between two bands, Stems (UK) and Anathème (F). The mix between the rather dark and fragile input from Stems and the pure post-rock from Anathème gave us a breathtakingly beautiful moment.
We were impressed by the typical drums/guitars and even more so by Christine Avis, who sounded throughly beautiful cello, very emotional.
Combining this dark intensity with typical postrock and building it up to a climax, makes this band very unique.
The Chapel of Exquises Ardents Pears is an unforgettable and very special project. »

« The Chapel of Exquises Ardents Pears is a fusion of the bands Stems (UK) and Anathème (Fr). Seven musicians, including a cellist, for a collaboration that exceeded all expectations.
The sounds went from chamber music to Godspeed-like crescendos, and the songs only got better and better. Leaving the Stargazer Stage before the end of the concert wasn’t an option. Only downside: we consequently missed others performances on the Festival. »

« Another act that would create a dreamy atmosphere was The Chapel of Exquises Ardents Pears, collaboration between the French band Anathème and the British band Stems.
The cello of Stems forces the audience to immediately sit down to enjoy the melancholic sound in the best possible way. The stage turned into a living room where one classical instrument from a chamber orchestra demanded full attention.
After this breathtaking though intimate spectacle, the audience woke up from one of the many dreams given by the bands performing on the Stargazer Stage. »
